TEHRAN Interior Minister Abdolvahed Mousavi Lari said here Wednesday that Iran has plenty of evidence to prove its ownership of three Persian Gulf islands of Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Moussa and is ready to hold talks on the issue to remove any possible misunderstanding.
Lari told reporters on arrival here Wednesday night after his six-day visit to Kuwait and Qatar, that Iran and Kuwait had agreed on border issues and on fighting drug traffickers, organized crimes and related activities.
He said that talks with Kuwait had led to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation between border guards of the two countries to give added impetus to the campaign against crimes as well as for regular periodical meetings between border guards and officials.
He added that to this end, representatives of Iran and Kuwait would hold meetings every six months to review the issues.
Kuwaiti entrepreneurs felt that given the atmosphere of cooperation and political solidarity, grounds had been paved for investment in the three provinces of Fars, Khuzestan and Bushehr, noted the interior minister.
The minister said that the Deputy Commander of the Law Enforcement Forces (LEF) General Mohsen Ansari held meetings with his Kuwaiti and Qatari counterparts in which he exchanged views on bilateral security cooperation.
